Elul 22

The prophet now turns to justice, the justice that is due to the nations:

For lo! in those days and in that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will contend with them over My very own people, Israel, which they scattered among the nations. For they divided My land among themselves and cast lots over My people; and they bartered a boy for a whore, and sold a girl for wine, which they drank. (Joel 4:1-3, NJPS)

The day of the L-rd's justice and judgement will come, as sure as eggs is eggs. In the meantime, we have to prepare: to share the message of the kingdom of G-dand be ready to give an answer to all who ask about the hope that we have.
