Attribute Four: Flexibility

The Coding Manual for Qualitative Researchers, 2nd Edition,
Johnny Saldana, Sage, 2013, page 37

Coding, Saldana informs me, is a cyclical process that needs recoding at least twice if not more times. Initial choices may simply not work and need to be reworked. This section has a less encouraging tag-line:

Virtually sll researcher developed coding schemes are never fixed fro the beginning - they evolve as analysis progresses.

Am I being too optimistic in hoping that I can be one of the few?
